NFF challenges iterim Coaches to seize Eagles' chance
NFF challenges interim coaches to seize Eagles’ chanceThe Nigeria Football Federation has charged the interim coaches of the Super Eagles to seize the opportunity presented them during the international friendlies.
Salisu Yusuf, Imama Amapakabo and Kennedy Boboye will lead the Eagles against Mali and Luxembourg as the NFF combs the globe for a foreign coach to handle the team on a permanent basis.
According to the NFF’s head of technical, Chris Green, the games will be used to test the readiness of the coaches for the national team job, and should they fail to measure up, the NFF would be left with no other choice than to pick an expatriate for the Eagles.
“We will like the local coaches to seize the opportunity presented to them again,” Green said.
“They must prove that they can take the Eagles to the Promised Land. They have been selected to lead the team in only the next two matches but if they are able to prove that they can do so even beyond that, the NFF will strive to help them.
“We are going to do an appraisal of the two friendly matches and from there we will decide if we are sticking with our plan to go for a foreign manager or to stick with the local coaches. The coaches must help themselves if they want this to become fruition.”
The former Sharks secretary however laughed off the insinuation in some quarters that the NFF had contacted former Tottenham Hotspur manager, Harry Redknapp to coach the Eagles while adding that the thought never crossed their minds and that no decision has been made regarding the appointment of a foreign coach
