Ideye denied Greek double honours
The Nigerian could not save his outfit from bowing to
their cross-city rivals in the final of the Greek Cup played on Tuesday
night at the Olympic Stadium
Midfielder Ronald Vargas set up a goal in each half for AEK Athens to beat Olympiakos 2-1 and win the Greek Cup on Tuesday, ending a tournament marred by violence and administrative disputes.
Olympiacos had won the Greek league having gathered 85 points from 30 matches but the Thrylos failed in their bid to win a double.
Ideye was a 53rd minute substitute for Patjim Kasami but could do nothing much in ensuring that Marco Silva's men extend the game to extra-time.
The Nigerian striker has been in a fine form for the outfit netting 12 goals in all competitions for the Greek giant.
