Nigeria U23 coach Samson Siasia has hailed the potentials of AS Roma’s Sadiq Umar and believes he would someday become a super striker for Nigeria.
The 19-year forward is expected to represent the country in Rio Olympics and the former Super Eagles handler says with the quality Umar has shown during the Dream Team VI’ training session, Umar would become an important figure in the Super Eagles team in the future.
From what I have seen from this young man’s game, he is a star in the making,” Siasia said
He will become a super striker if he is discipline and continues to be hard working. He is also a good boy.”
Coach Siasia also commiserates with him on the demise of his father on Friday after a long battle with diabetes.
“Sadiq Umar told me when he came to camp last week about his dad being sick and that was why he came late to camp,” he continued.
He also said that he was getting better. We, the coaches of this team were getting to know the kind of player he is. He came to me and said he needed to go back to Nigeria because his daddy died and I can see tears on his face.
I really feel so bad for the young man. He looks like a young man that's going through a lot in his life and career.  He will be back as soon as he can. May his father's soul rest in peace,” he concluded.
Nigeria U23 bowed 1-0 to Mexico in Sunday’s international friendly as the team step up preparation for next month’s Olympics Games.
